Hi friends of SatB,

Summer is here, the time is right, and the the heat is on in Davis. Cozy and I live together and spent most nights during the winter complaining about the cold weather and rain. Our complaints were compounded by the facts that we're both too cheap (broke?) to run the heater, our house has no insulation, and we're total wimps about cold weather. Despite this, the winter left me with many good memories of coming home way too late after gigs, finishing the leftover food/beer in the fridge, and ranting until either the sun came up or I fell asleep with my boots on (sidenote: don't you judge me!). I suppose this might not be considered a proper way to live, but these late nights got us all seriously thinking that we have some new things to sing about and that it's time to make another disc, which we will begin recording in late July.

With the recording beginning, I imagine we will have fewer shows on the calendar in coming months, but please enjoy some free downloads in the meantime:

Strawberry Highway
Trinkets
Three Days
Kids in a Movie

Back to the coffee.

Sincerely,
Charles / Shayna and the Bulldog

SatB has been on a live show hiatus the last couple months, but we have still been working. We are working on new material and updating some old stuff for a tour we are planning up and down the West Coast, Arizona, and New Mexico, and Nevada in October. There will be more on this in the coming weeks.

In the meantime we are preparing for the national (digital) release of States on August 25, 2009. It should be available at all major digital retail outlets (iTunes, Emusic, Rhapsody, etc…). Look for it, and tell your friends (it should make for great water cooler fodder). As part of the festivities leading up to this release, we have decided to release all the master audio tracks for our song Kids in the Movie. We are essentially holding a remix contest for those that are interested. You can download the tracks for free and do with them what you like. There are prizes involved! Check out the contest/remix page here for more details.

As always, we hope that this message finds you all well, and if you have any questions and or comments, never hesitate to contact us.

Hugs,

SatB

April was a busy and good month for us. We had lots of good shows on our first southwest tour while enjoying the company of new people, old friends, and everything in between. Thanks so much to everyone who came out to the shows and folks who put us up for the night. Only slept in the van twice, which isn't too bad for a couple weeks on the road. Nina did a little blogging about the trip on our myspace, and I will probably try to set some kind of photos section up on this page. Lots of pretty land between here and Texas, ranging from Saguaro-filled deserts to the pineywoods of East Texas.

CD Release show was this past Friday. Marilyn's was a hell of a good time. Thanks all for coming out. The disc was a long time in the making, and we thank all folks involved who helped create that disc. We're happy with it, and I hope you guys are too. The release show was slightly overshadowed by a game of pool I played right after the show where I ran the table after the break. I've never done that, and I'm pretty sure it will never happen again. I never hit a home run in little league, so this filled a void I didn't even know I had. A high point in my life, for sure.

Sincerely,
Charles / SatB

Hello website visitors.

SatB has been busy. Last summer we finished our first full-length record, "States." It took us longer than expected to choose the right group of songs and get the artwork together, but it is done at last. The band is really proud of the disc, and we think you will enjoy it. You can pick up a copy right now in the store section of this website. Go there.

Further, over the last few months we have been on the road - up to Oregon and down to Central California. In the beginning of April we will be heading out on our longest adventure yet. We will be traveling from Davis, CA to Houston, TX, in our new-used van (our first van, Patricia, broke last week). Along the way we will be stopping in the following cities (links are to facebook event invites):

Socorro, New MexicoLubbock, TexasSan Antonio, TexasAustin, TexasHouston, TexasSan Marcos, TexasEl Paso, TexasFlagstaff, ArizonaTucson, ArizonaSan Diego, CaliforniaPhoenix, ArizonaLos Angeles (West Hollywood), CaliforniaSacramento, California

If you know someone in one of those towns, tell them to come out. All details can also be found on the links above, our myspace page, as well as the "tour" section of this webpage.

Finally, this website, like a lot of the things we do, was a long time in the making. We are going to be trying to update the content as much as possible. Please take some time to check out the links, tell us what you think, and then come back again (maybe not tomorrow, but in a week or two). We are a grass roots - DIY - kind of band. We appreciate the support we have received over the years, and if you have it to give, will gladly accept it in the future.

Many warm hugs and kisses,

SatB
